In collaboration with the Nike Foundation, Vital Voices Global Partnership organized Rising Voices: Young Kenyan Women’s Leadership & Communications Training in Nairobi, Kenya, from December 2-4, 2008. The program trained 10 young women, ages 12-23, in leadership and communications skills.

Following the program, the girls were invited to speak on behalf of Kenyan youth at the corporate launch of the Partnership for an HIV-Free Generation, an international public-private partnership to advance the fight against HIV/AIDS. On December 5th, they spoke at a roundtable discussion with US Ambassador to Kenya, Michael Ranneberger, PEPFAR Kenya Country Coordinator Warren Buckingham III, and Partnership for an HIV-Free Generation Executive Director Ian Kirumba Ndungu.
